granpa for hire
the personal ad in a leading newspaper struck me first as amusing then as sad
elders bereft of the loving care of their younger have to put themselves on hire for love
words of the ad echoed my thoughts
wanted-loving children/grandchildren for a love famished granpa
i may be old i may not be rich or healthy but i have enough love and experience to share
for those in need of elderly love and care and blessings
i am available 70 educated financially supported by children
(but not wanted by them)
i was intrigued and called the number in the ad.
a sad voice replied yes it is x speaking
about your ad
you are in need of grandparents
not exactly…i wanted to get to know you and
–get the story behind the ad ?

i went
1 bhk at west mamblam
elderly white haired gentleman reasonably healthy though thin
welcomed me ,served readymade coffee
i am a postgraduate was employed in a govt concern for 30 years
i have 4 children all abroad
lost my wife to cancer 15 years ago
looking after my aged (93) mother since then
now -god bless her–she is no more
i am loath to live abroad so i am living alone
but as i said
i am still full of love care and affection for those in need of it
whether your children know of this
obviously not
has anyone responded
sadly not ..but i still have hope
